My name is Avery Chauncey, I am 18 years old and have always had a passion for helping animals. While volunteering at pet rescues and veterinary clinics, I dreamed of a career in animal welfare.
Regrettably, 5 years ago I was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma cancer. Despite long hospital stays and all the other challenges that followed, I have continued to live out my passion of caring for animals in need.
Since then, through my FB page “Avery’s Pawsitive Change” and the incredible generosity of family, friends and the community, I have been able to fundraise to support my causes. Several of my favorites were sending over 4000 gift cards to animal shelters in all 50 states, buying food/supplies for pet rescues and placing a blessing box in our community, that we continue to fill weekly with free pet food.
I am also grateful to the “Make a Wish Foundation”, who provided me with a Mobile Pet Food Pantry, that has allowed me to deliver food to shelters , food pantries and other donation locations in our community.
At 14, due to my support of animal rescues, I was honored to receive the “Hero to Animals Award “ from PETA , the largest animal rights organization in the world.
Even though, I continue to get treatments, I KNEW, I could do more to help pets fight their battle with hunger, all while I’m fighting my own battle with cancer.
I hope you’ll join our APC Family and help us make a difference, one pet at a time.
